Student Advising Print E-mail
Thursday, 07 February 2008

The role of international student advising includes:

  • Services to support student adjustment to a new learning environment
  • Individual assistance to students with enquiries and issues relating to study, and living in a new country
  • Program and project development to systematically improve services
  • Assistance to students in the interpretation of regulations
  • Student advocacy within a regulatory environment, and in the context of institutional policies and procedures
  • Liaison with key staff and services within the institution, and with external bodies
  • Front line representation of institutions, and the international educational industry

Most of us will never solve the problems of world poverty, starvation or defuse international conflicts. However, we do play a pivotal role through our work within international education.

We need to remember the often-quoted words of Margaret Mead:

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
