Deewr Good Practice workshops on the National Code's Standards 8, 10 and 11 Print E-mail

The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) and state authorities are hosting workshops in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth on key aspects of working with ESOS and the National Code 2007.

The workshops will focus on the National Code's Standards 8, 10 and 11.

International students gain automatic work rights in Australia - Immigration Media Release ce038/2008 for 29 April

Department of Immigration and Citizenship

SNIPPET: Minister for Immigration and Citizenship. International students will be eligible to work part-time in Australia automatically under new streamlined visa arrangements introduced this week, the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans, said today. 'It will reduce red-tape for students wanting to work in Australia and allow more efficient use of department resources.

AustraLearn has an opening for two (2) part time staff members in Australia.  Both positions entail the same title - Event Manager and similar tasks. One position will be based in Sydney and the other will be situated in Cairns.

The Event Managers act as first point of contact for local universities and students, university study travel programs, study abroad program introductions and Internship orientations, with responsibility for quality service and support to all relationships. These positions require experienced professionals who will operate independently and proactively with advisors, students, faculty and staff.

DIAC - Permission to work Print E-mail

Last Thursday at a Victorian DIAC Client Reference Group Meeting, the attendees were advised that all visas issued from April 26 will automatically come with permission to work attached.

Students will no longer need to apply for permission to work when they enrol. Students who have a visa that was issued prior April 26 will still need to apply for permission to work if they have not already done so. On April 26 the visa fee will increase from $430 to $450.
