ISANA (NSW) partnership on student workplace exploitation project awarded #StudyNSW funding.

We are delighted that Information For Impact: Enabling Education Providers To Address Exploitation Of International Students In Accommodation And At Work has been successfully selected as a StudyNSW Partner Project for 2018-19.

ISANA NSW is a central partner in this landmark project. In addition to UNSW Sydney and UTS: Sydney, other partners include English Australia, the Fair Work Ombudsman, Redfern Legal Centre, education agents, and CISA.

We are writing to providers to seek help with mapping the landscape of information that international students currently receive on working conditions and workplace rights in Australia, and on accommodation.

We would greatly appreciate if your College/University/Provider could please:

  • provide a description, and if possible copies, of examples of information that you provide to students in relation to work rights and accommodation
  • indicate when and how each item is conveyed to students (e.g. email, on website, social media).

We also welcome your views on information that you believe will make an impact in relation to student accommodation and employment.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.
