ISANA and IEAA formalise continued partnership with a new MOU

IEAA Media Release 11 Nov 2021

IEAA and ISANA formalise their continued partnership with a new memorandum of understanding to facilitate opportunities for collaboration in international education

On Wednesday 3 November 2021, Phil Honeywood, CEO of IEAA, and Bronwyn Gilson, ISANA National President sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU), signalling a new chapter for both organisations.

The new MOU between IEAA and ISANA recognises the benefits of internationalisation of education for the individual, community and the broader benefits to society including the sharing of knowledge and skills across borders, enhancing cultural understanding and forming strong international connections by fostering ongoing, open dialogue between countries.

Effective for three years, the MOU will foster a strong and active collaborative relationship through co-branded events, training and workshops, and formal acknowledgement at each host’s conference. Under the new agreement, an authorised representative of ISANA will be invited to attend the International Student Experience Roundtable.

‘A big reason for enhancing our collaborative efforts is to ensure that we maximise the benefits of everything we do for our international students,’ says Phil Honeywood, CEO, IEAA.

Bronwyn Gilson, ISANA’s National President said ‘It is important for our two organisations to recognise each other by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. Our industry needs to have and support strong united voices speaking out to raise community and government awareness around the needs of international students and the staff and institutions who work with them. ISANA and IEAA have had a long standing relationship and this MOU will formally cement our ongoing work in the international education space. Signing alongside Phil Honeywood, IEAA’s Chief Executive Officer, allows ISANA to further increase our positive impact in the sector.”

IEAA and ISANA are currently hosting the second annual Under 18s Masterclasses for their respective members. The Masterclasses address key issues associated with academic progression, accommodation, welfare, and risk management of international students under 18 years of age.
