How to use this tutorial

Choice 1. Contextual understanding

If you are seeking a broad, overall understanding of the National Code, it would be advantageous to interact with the complete tutorial and its discussions of all fifteen National Code standards:

  • Start at Standard 1 and work your way through to Standard 15 in your own time. The standards can be accessed consecutively or as self-contained sessions. Each standard has a link to the one before and the next. Make a note at the end of each session of your progress so that you can restart at the next logical point in your progress through the complete tutorial.
  • The learning activities at the end of each tutorial discussion are designed to test your own understanding of the material. The scores are not recorded and the activities can be repeated as often as necessary.
  • Once you have completed the tutorial, please complete the Evaluation and email it to isana@isana.org.au. ◦You can provide feedback about the Tutorial by completing the Evaluation – Level 1.
    • A Certificate of Completion can be attained by completing the Evaluation Level 2 – Assessment of your understanding, to add to your professional development portfolio.
    • If you complete the Evaluation Level 3 (Providing a good practice example), you will receive a Certificate of Appreciation.

Choice 2. Job relevancy

If time is short and you are seeking a more focused approach:

  • Work through those standards directly relevant to your job by following the suggested progressions in the table on theOverviewpage.
    • Note that the job descriptions used is this table are explanatory only inclusive of job titles that may be used within a broader usage; for example ‘Academic’ refers to teachers, tutors, teaching aides, and so on.
  • The learning activities at the end of each tutorial discussion are designed to test your own understanding of the material. The scores are not recorded and the activities can be repeated as often as necessary.
  • Once you have completed the tutorial’s sections in which you are interested, complete the Evaluation and email it to isana@isana.org.au.
    • You can provide feedback about the Tutorial by completing the Evaluation – Level 1.
    • A Certificate of Completion can be attained by completing the Evaluation Level 2 – Assessment of your understanding, to add to your professional development portfolio. However, by not completing the whole tutorial you may not eligible to receive a Certificate of Completion.
    • If you complete the Evaluation Level 3 (Providing a good practice example), you will receive a Certificate of Appreciation.

Choice 3. Summaries only

If you are short on time or feel very confident about your knowledge of the National Code, you can access the tutorial’s Glossary and Brief Guides. These provide a collection of all documents, knowledge, procedures, good practice examples, links and definitions that are part of the individual tutorial discussions of each National Code standard.

  • Once you have accessed the Brief Guides and Glossary, complete the Evaluation and email it to isana@isana.org.au. ◦You can provide feedback about the Tutorial by completing the Evaluation – Level 1.
    • Certificate of Completion can be attained by completing the Evaluation Level 2 – Assessment of your understanding, to add to your professional development portfolio. However, by not completing the whole tutorial you may not eligible to receive a Certificate of Completion.
    • If you complete the Evaluation Level 3 (Providing a good practice example), you will receive a Certificate of Appreciation.
