EducationWeek: A Holistic Approach to Social-Emotional Learning

03/03/2021 @ 5:00 am - 6:00 am AEDT

Registration:  CLICK HERE

Decades of research show the positive effects of classroom-based social-emotional learning (SEL) programs for children. There’s also broad recognition that benefits are even greater when educators’ SEL is supported and children experience SEL throughout their day: across home, school, and out-of-school time environments, and throughout developmental stages. When implemented holistically – with a coordinated, community-wide, and child-centric approach – SEL can build stronger communities and support inclusive, equitable learning.

Presenters:

During this webinar, Committee for Children’s chief executive officer Andrea Lovanhill and vice president of research Tia Kim, will highlight the research behind the four components of holistic SEL and explore some of the most important features of this approach. Providing a district-level perspective, Alicia Erwin will share the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township’s vision and the realities of their implementation as they moved to embrace a more holistic approach to SEL.

Moderator: Jennifer Sanderlin, Education Partnerships Regional Manager,  Committee for Children

This webinar will provide both theoretical and practical knowledge to inform your plans for the coming school year and help strengthen your school community.
